Don’t Be A Victim Of Online Auction Fraud

The Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) reported that last year 7.7 million dollars was lost through online auction scams. The actual losses are much greater. Most auction scams are not reported because they involve only small amounts of money.
Most auction Web sites are aggressive at fighting fraud. eBay has a fraud investigation unit that has helped them hold down fraud to only .01% of its transactions. If you paid for an item and never received it, or if you received the item but it was less than what was described, eBay’s Fraud Protection Program will reimburse you up to $200, minus a $25 processing charge. In order to qualify for Fraud Protection coverage, you must submit an Online Fraud Complaint with eBay after 30 days and before 60 days from the time the auction ended.
After making a purchase, buyers can leave feedback about their experience with the seller. Before you bid on an item, check the seller’s feedback profile by clicking on the number next to the their User ID. There is also a feedback forum and discussion board.
Below are a few actions that you should take to protect yourself from Internet auction fraud.
- For a high cost item use an escrow service.
- Avoid sellers who request payment by electronic transfer.
- Never provide your Social Security Number or Drivers License Number.
- Verify the delivery data and the sellers return policy.
- Review the online feedback on a seller.
- If the seller is a business, check with the Better Business Bureau www.bbb.org.
- Prefer sellers who accept credit card payments. When you use a credit card to pay for a purchase, federal law limits your liability for an unauthorized charge to $50. You can also request your credit card issuer to make a charge-back.
- Be cautious about buying from a seller in another country. If you buy from a seller in another country, understand the difference in laws governing auctions between that country and the US.
If you become a victim of Internet auction fraud, you can submit a complaint report with an online form at the IFCC Web site www.ifccfbi.gov. The IFCC will review your complaint and refer it to the proper law enforcement agency.
Internet Auction fraud is a large and growing problem. Take the measures outlined above to prevent yourself from becoming a victim.

Calling internet auctions an “Entrepreneur’s Dream” isn’t poetic license or part of the get-rich-quick rhetoric. Net auctions are the simplest, easiest way on this planet for the little guy to make money.
1. NOT the typical business startup
First, the would-be entrepreneur decides on a product or service. He begs, borrows or steals the money to bring his dream into reality.
Then, he faces “The Great Uncertainty” - “Where are my customers going to come from?”
With an Internet auction, your customers are already there and they will come to you! Someone else has very obligingly created an entire marketing structure for us. We need to do nothing to find, literally, MILLIONS of customers.
You don’t have to go looking for musicians to buy your guitars, gamers for your games, Mothers for your kids’ clothes, or collectors to buy your cars. They will come to you!
2. Start up costs? None. Zero. Zip. Nada.
Can you name any other business that has no start up costs?
Entrepreneur magazine claims that the average franchise costs $70,000! Whoa! And when you buy your franchise, what do you get with it? Oh, employees, rent, government regulations, incredible paperwork, the constant threat of lawsuits, grinding responsibility and twelve hour days.
Auction sellers have no overhead, no utilities, no employees, no employee taxes and no rent.
3. Risk? What risk?
There is NO financial risk for start-up!
It is cheap, cheap, cheap to start an auction business! You never have to worry about employees, rent, costly technology or any of the other expenses that suck up the money of an netrepreneur. Somebody else has already created the system and taken all the risk.
Having an eBay consignment business, you list other people’s things. Therefore, you have no merchandise costs.
Or if you decide to list cars on eBay motors for car dealers and private parties, you simply are listing vehicles they already own. Still, no upfront costs that must come out of your pocket!
Compare the cost of traditional business expenses with that of your new eBay business and there is no comparison.
The two tools that you absolutely must have to sell on eBay are a computer and access to the Internet. A digital camera helps too.
Everyone has stuff to sell, your clients will be very easy to find and unlimited.
4. It is simple to learn!
You can start your new business one day and the next, your first item can be already listed.
5. The amount of time you spend is entirely up to YOU.
You can spend an 3 hours a week… or ten hours a day… on your auction business. Your level of involvement is your decision.
Increase your level of involvement whenever you want to. Your choice. No desperation. No risk.
6. There is the FUN FACTOR (the best part)!
An eBay consignment business or eBay motors dealer assistant business lets you follow your passion, meet new people and be entertained — all while you are “working.”
Don’t miss out on the greatest money-making opportunity in history. There absolutely is no easier and safer way to make money. While you read these words, someone is making money on auctions. Why aren’t you?

Five Tested Ways To Find The Perfect Drop Shipper

You’ve heard about it many times in recent months. Being the business-minded person that you are, you most probably got curious and did a few research of your own. But resources seem to be few, and what meager data you’ve found made you wonder even more…
Is drop shipping a fact or a myth?
I can’t blame you. There are quite a lot of reasons why information about drop shipping haven’t fully invaded the internet marketing scene. The few sites that promise to teach you about this novel concept are usually full of crap. Often, they don’t even know the difference between a drop ship and a mother ship. They’d rather capitalize on the growing curiosity about the subject, and make a quick buck at your expense. But don’t let this discourage you.
Drop shipping is real, and it’s here, and it has made a number of people rich.
Those who know speak of it in hushed tones because it is a rewarding secret that they would rather keep within their circles.
Case in point: Visit an internet marketing discussion board. Look for a thread about drop shipping. You will find many posts there, but none would reveal the contact information for any drop shipper.
Why is this so?
Drop shipping is a very lucrative option. You don’t have to make any financial investments. You don’t have to secure a warehouse to store your products. You don’t even have to worry about your buyer’s location and how to ship what you’re selling to his doorsteps. Drop shippers will take care of those problems.
All you have to do is to market the drop shipper’s products. Sell it for a retail price, with a markup of your choice. Then, once a customer buys what you offered, you’ll just simply pay the drop shipper the wholesale price of the product, and he’ll take care of the rest, including shipping. There will be no middleman, thus assuring you of maximum profit.
And yes, there’s no such thing as a minimum purchase.
The only problem really is: How do you find a drop shipper? Many offer their functions, but once you review their terms and conditions, you’d discover that their services hardly qualify as drop shipping.
So how do you find drop shippers? Better yet, how do you find the drop shipper that would be perfect for your needs? Here are some techniques that will surely help you in your crusade.
1. Try product sourcing first. The common mistake of people looking for drop shippers is that they’re not concerned about what products they’ll sell.
This shouldn’t be the case. Remember, we cannot sell what we don’t believe in. We just can’t rely solely on what the drop shipper, if ever we find one, has to offer. We should at least have an idea of what we want to sell. Such would most certainly narrow down our search.
2. Avoid an agent.
The purpose of establishing a direct contact with a drop shipper, aside from the convenience and the win-win situation it entails, is to keep the price as low as possible. An agent, or a middleman, who would offer you means of contacting a drop shipper, would be detrimental to keeping the cost low.
Most certainly, the agent would receive a commission from your sales. This would inflate your retail price, making your offers less attractive.
3. Penetrate the circle. As mentioned earlier, people who know about drop shippers operate like a secret fraternity of marketers. Squeezing information out of them would be impossible. Well, almost impossible.
Remember the saying “if you can’t beat them, join them?” This holds much truth in your search for the perfect drop shipper. Be on the lookout for someone who should know about drop shipping. Perhaps, he could be a drop shipper in disguise himself. Befriend him first before asking for his services. Chances are he’ll be the first one who’ll open up about his secret.
4. Know where to look. You can’t find any leads on drop shippers in an online dating site, that’s for sure. Try lurking in online discussion boards, particularly those which are dedicated to internet marketing.
It would be quite easy to distinguish the people who know what they’re talking about from mere loudmouths. Once you’ve pinpointed these people, send them a friendly private message where you’ll ask for help regarding a topic that is not related to drop shipping.
Thank them for their time once they reply, and assure them that you’ll be there when they would ever need help. You’ll be surprised how effective this method is!
5. Try credible online resources. There are indeed online sites that offer comprehensive directories of bona fide drop shippers worldwide.
This is an excellent recourse for anyone who wishes to engage such service. There is a downside, however. All, and I do mean ALL, of these reliable resources demand a membership fee. The rates range from $50 to $200. Yes, that’s a clear indication of the general interest on drop shipping these days.

Launching your very own successful website is the dream of many people worldwide because it is a new way to make money and be employed by oneself with little overhead. So, once you have your website you will need traffic to make it successful. The question is, how will you get the targeted traffic you need to support your website, sell your products, and realize your dream of a highly successful website? The answer is eBay. Yes, eBay is an auction site and regardless of whether or not you are interested in auctioning off your products, eBay is the perfect forum for generating that targeted traffic you are so interested in. You may be skeptical, but read the following reasons why eBay will get you the traffic you need.
First of all, eBay is affordable and you can run an auction for up to 10 days at a time. During this period you will have use of a small portion of the web and can advertise and describe your product or service for sale in any way you see fit. You can even add links. Ah, now you are starting to understand. These links on eBay will instantly begin to generate traffic to you site. You do not have to search out qualified websites, contact their webmaster, and grovel for a link. All you have to do is pay pocket change to auction off your product or service and add links to your site. This has several benefits.
One, you will be actually auctioning off a service or product so you might even sell it. And two, you will have the links you need to drive people to your website, and this is targeted traffic. Since eBay has billions of pages and millions of members worldwide, you will immediately realize many hits on your web pages from people who are interested in your particular products and services. Your sales will increase and you will have spent very little money to get those visitors to your site.
You certainly will save a lot of time by using eBay as part of your online marketing strategy. On eBay, you can list a lot of auctions in one day and continuously re-list them. That means you are in control of getting your company linked and noticed on the web. You won’t have to be so concerned about other companies not linking to you or waiting long periods of time for them to do so. Using eBay will reduce the pressure a little bit and make the job of promoting your site much easier. Go ahead and try it. You might be skeptical, but you’ll be amazed with the results.

How to Sell on eBay Internationally without Risk

eBay allows you the opportunity to sell all over the world. It is exciting to communicate with a customer from England, Australia or Japan via email. It is almost as if you are speaking in person. It also opens a huge market! Many US sellers do not sell internationally so you can receive higher bids and more interest in your product; but you need to follow the guidelines I will explain below to ensure your payment.
There are only two methods of payment, which will ensure absolute zero risk regarding sending product overseas:
1. The first is wire transfer directly to your bank.
You can contact your local bank and they will walk you through a wire transfer transaction. It is very similar to the process of having a payroll check deposited in your account. As soon as a payment is deposited electronically into your account it can never be touched by any source other than by you, the account owner. Once the bank notifies you that payment is wired or transferred into your account, you can ship the product.
2. The second is http://www.auctionpayments.com/, which is a division of Western Union. This was originally called BidPay.com and the name has been changed to Western Union (R) Auction Payments.
Payment for this method is completely processed via email. You will then receive a physical check from Western Union. This usually takes three to four days after your email confirmation. Very Important! Do not ship the product when you receive the email confirmation. Wait until you physically receive the check from Western Union.
I do not accept cashier’s checks, even from US customers. There is a common misconception that they are as good as cash. They are not! There have been cases where blank stolen cashier’s checks, or even bank checks have been forged.
I also do not accept credit card payments from overseas buyers. They offer no protection from fraud as they do in the US. Even if it states Master Card or Visa, they are not governed by the same rules and laws of the United States.
Shipping product internationally is more work, but the rewards can outweigh the time involved. Unlike shipping products within the US, the first major difference is the “customs form”. These forms are free and supplied by the shipping carrier you chose, whether it is the US Postal Service, Fed Ex, UPS, Etc. You will need to state the weight, the item and it’s value, the destination, etc.
Important lesson - I learned this the hard way! I have a FED EX account, which allows me to print a label and send an item from my computer without having to go to a shipping company. I receive a discounted rate on my shipping as opposed to taking it to a Mailboxes, etc. or a shipping house. I shipped a computer using my account. I didn’t realize I would be charged duty taxes on the item, which was an additional $150.00. Ouch!
Now when shipping internationally I use only the United States Postal Service, and the complete shipping amount is paid to USPS upon delivery. Country duty taxes will be collected from the buyer, not you.
Shipping internationally can be rewarding and interesting! Make sure you only take payment in the methods described above, be aware of the shipping procedures, and send via USPS.com.

Health Care Could Learn from Spyware?
Recently, after having taken my infant daughter to the doctor for a check-up, I learned of my naivete about the health care system when I received a bill that was larger than expected. Apparently, health insurance doesn’t cover “routine” doctor visits, and this is what is meant when it is said we have “sick” care, not health care. Fortunately, as far as the health of our computers, there is a spyware removal program that can detect instances of spyware… before it infects your computer instead of afterward. It’s always better to avoid damage instead of undoing it. Perhaps the health care system could take a preventative cue from proper PC care.
With certain computer programs, sometimes you do want to know ahead of time when software updates are available. You might simply be familiar and content with your current version of the software, or you might not be ready to download the updates until later. A good spyware removal program, however, will automatically update itself. Whether you want that kind of update should be a no-brainer. Asking whether you want protection against new types of spyware should be like asking whether you want a free flu vaccine right here and right now. Of course you want to take all possible precautions, and who could say no to such a convenient circumstance?
5 Simple Steps To Posting Your First Ebay Auction.

Filed under:
Sales
It’s surprisingly simple to get started posting your very first auction on eBay. Here’s what you need to do.
Step 1: Open an eBay seller’s account.
If you’ve bought things on eBay, then you already have an account - just log in with it and click ‘Sell’ in the toolbar at the top of the page, then click ‘Create a seller’s account’. If you’ve never used eBay before, then you’ll need to open an account first using the ‘register’ link underneath the toolbar, and then click ‘Sell’ and ‘Create a seller’s account’. The eBay site will then guide you through the process. For security, this may involve giving card details and bank information.
Step 2: Decide what to sell.
For your first little experiment with eBay, it doesn’t really matter what you sell. Take a look around the room you’re in - I’m sure there’s something in there that you’re not all that attached to and could put in the post. Small books and CDs are ideal first items.
Step 3: Submit your item.
Click ‘Sell’, and you’re on your way to listing your item.
The first thing you need to do is choose a category - it’s best to just type in what the item is and let eBay choose for you. Next, write a title and description. Include key words you think people will search for in the title box, and all the information you have about the item in the description box.
Now set a starting price. $0.01 is the best starting price, as it draws people in to bid who otherwise wouldn’t, and items will almost never finish at such a low price. The next thing to set is the duration of the auction: 3, 5, 7 or 10 days. This is up to you: longer sales will usually get more bids, but will also seem to drag on forever. If you’ve taken a picture, add it now - items with pictures always sell for more. Finally, tick the payment methods you will accept (just PayPal is best for now), and where you will post to (limit yourself to your own country to begin with). Submit and you’re done!
Step 4: Wait for it to sell.
This is just a matter of sitting back and letting eBay do its thing - buyers will find your item and leave bids on it. Some bidders might email you with questions about the item, and you should do your best to answer these questions as quickly as you can.
Remember that if your item doesn’t sell then you can list it again for free.
Step 5: Collect payment and post it.
eBay will sent your buyer emails guiding them through the process of sending you payment for the item. Make sure you have the money before you send anything.
Once you’ve got the payment, all you need to do is pack the item for posting (make sure to use some bubble wrap), take the buyer’s address from the confirmation email eBay sent you, and write it on the parcel. Put some stamps on, post it, and you’re done!
I hope you enjoyed selling your first item. Now that you’re starting to get into it, the next email will give you a checklist of things you need to do to be a successful seller.

A lot of the merchant banks wil show you a loan rate that looks serious but feels mischievously or so after a while. now you need to go out and learn if you can have a money loan at a effective percent rate of interest.
